One of my favorite quick pick me up's is to practice gratitude.
Whenever I'm having a rough time with something or life just isn't going my way, I always shift my focus back to gratitude and start counting all of the amazing things I have in my life.
This practice does wonders for our mindset and for our overall happiness.
I'm sure you can relate that when you're focusing so hard on a dream and bringing it to life it’s really easy to get caught up in the daily stress, overwhelm and constant feeling like you’re chasing something that feels like it’s so far off.
So take a minute.
Breathe. Inhale. Exhale.
And bring it back to you; the present moment.
Right here and now you have everything you need.
The practice of gratitude aims to bring your attention back to the here and now.
When we focus always is on everything we don’t have, there will never be enough, no matter how successful we become. There is always more, more, more to be had.
Without stopping and fully appreciating everything we have right now, it becomes incredibly draining to always be outward seeking all the time.
There is always something to be grateful for and expressing this heartfelt appreciation shifts our outlook and instantly boosts our mood.
Try it for yourself:
Write down 5 things you are grateful for right now.
Here are some thought starters:
- What has brought you joy today?
- What made you smile?
- Who has been someone by your side who's always there for you?
How can you make this simple practice a daily habit and reap the benefits it will bring?
